Location Details: 

At GoDaddy the future of work looks different for each team. Some teams work in the office full-time, others have a hybrid arrangement (they work remotely some days and in the office some days) and some work entirely remotely.

This is a remote position, so you’ll be working remotely from your home. You may occasionally visit a GoDaddy office to meet with your team for events or meetings.  

This position is not eligible to be performed in Alaska, Mississippi, North Dakota, or the Virgin Islands.

GoDaddy is not currently considering candidates for this role in California, Seattle, or NYC.

The Information Security Software Engineering (ISE) Group is responsible for developing and maintaining advanced software solutions that safeguard GoDaddy's ecosystem, leveraging AI and machine learning to stay ahead of evolving threats. We're looking for a Principal Software Engineer who shares our vision of empowering businesses to thrive online with the assurance of cutting-edge security.

What you'll get to do...

Join a team where you'll own critical security infrastructure from conception to production. You'll architect and build AI-enhanced microservices that defend against the full spectrum of security threats at global scale—from sophisticated malware, DDoS attacks, and emerging cyber threats. Working with AWS cloud technologies and modern development practices, you'll create intelligent detection and response systems that protect millions of customers. This role offers true end-to-end ownership—from system architecture through deployment and monitoring—while collaborating with some of the industry's brightest security and engineering minds. Our mission is clear: deliver security solutions that not only protect digital assets but also support a culture of innovation, aligned with GoDaddy's dedication to customer success. 

Your experience should include...

  • 8+ years of working experience in large scale system architecting, design, development, testing, and release, including but not limited to, microservices in layers, database design, API design, performance tuning, telemetry design and analysis.
  • 3+ years of professional experience with Cloud Computing Platforms, such as AWS.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, GoLang, or Java.
  • Familiarity with application performance monitoring tools such as ElasticAPM.
  • Demonstrated experience of leading big initiatives spanning multiple teams and organizations and leveraging deep domain expertise to influence product roadmap.
  • A strong understanding of security principles and best practices.
  • Experience leading a project teams of engineers in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

The estimated pay ranges for this role are listed below. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for other forms of compensation, which may include a corporate bonus and/or equity awards, subject to the terms of applicable plans and individual eligibility.

Bay Area (Santa Clara, San Francisco) and Los Angeles:
$182,000—$273,000 USD
Austin, D.C. Metro, CA (non-Bay Area), HI, IL, MA, NH, OR, VA, WA:
$157,000—$235,000 USD
New York City Metro, Kirkland/Seattle:
$166,800—$250,200 USD
All other US locations not previously listed:
$140,000—$210,000 USD

At GoDaddy, we subscribe to a “pay for performance” approach that considers our total compensation to ensure we offer competitive pay. Total compensation elements vary based on role, but in addition to our base pay offering, may include: 

  • Comprehensive benefits (may vary based on location)
  • Short-Term Incentives (annual bonus, sales incentive pay) - eligibility dependent on role and company and/or individual performance
  • Long-Term Incentives (equity) - eligibility dependent on role 

We are proud to provide pay transparency to our candidates. In the United States, we have four geographic pay groups (Groups). GoDaddy's target compensation is determined based on your location and varies based on an individual's qualifications, skills and experience at the time of the offer. For this role, our targeted base pay ranges for new hires in each US Group are: 

  • All other US locations not listed below: $140,000.00 – $210,000.00
  • Austin, D.C. Metro, CA (non-Bay Area), HI, IL, MA, NH, OR, VA, WA: $157,000.00 – $235,000.00
  • New York City Metro, Kirkland/Seattle: $166,800.00 – $250,200.00
  • Bay Area (San Francisco, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, Palo Alto):  $182,000.00 – $273,000.00
