At GoDaddy the future of work looks different for each team. Some teams work in the office full-time, others have a hybrid arrangement (they work remotely some days and in the office some days) and some work entirely remotely.

This is a remote position, so you’ll be working remotely from your home. You may occasionally visit a GoDaddy office to meet with your team for events or meetings.  

This position is not eligible to be performed in Alaska, Mississippi, North Dakota, or the Virgin Islands.

GoDaddy is not currently considering candidates for this role in California, Seattle, or NYC.

At GoDaddy, the company that empowers everyday entrepreneurs, we are seeking an experienced commercial transactions attorney to join our team! This attorney will support a high volume of commercial agreements while serving as the primary legal partner for key distribution and go-to-market initiatives. This role will focus on drafting, reviewing, analyzing, and negotiating a wide variety of agreements, with an emphasis on scalability, efficiency, and strong business partnership. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the company’s Contracts team as it scales to meet the demands of our growing business. This role will report to the Director - Legal managing the enterprise focused team within commercial legal.

What you'll get to do...

  • Independently manage a substantial number of commercial transactions. This includes drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements using established templates and playbooks. Use good judgment to decide when to raise concerns.
  • Support strategic and distribution-related partnerships, including drafting and negotiating reseller, partner, and program agreements, and contributing to more complex transactions in cooperation with experienced attorneys
  • Serve as the lead legal advisor for distribution and market entry efforts, including reseller programs, agency offerings, and community-based products, advising on contract structure and risk considerations
  • Handle a significant portion of day-to-day contract volume, including vendor agreements, amendments, statements of work, and order forms, ensuring timely and consistent execution
  • Proactively partner with business collaborators by working closely together, and taking the time to understand the business strategy
  • Provide feedback on standard form agreements, templates, and processes to improve efficiency and consistency, in partnership with senior attorneys and legal operations
  • Understand, identify, raise and address legal and business issues related to new and existing products and contracts
  • Advise business clients on legal issues and risks, complex agreement structures, approval processes, and company policies and procedures
  • Develop and refine contract templates, clauses, and processes to improve efficiency and velocity

Your experience should include...

  • 8+ years of prior and relevant legal experience
  • Independently managing a high volume of commercial transactions, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating vendor agreements, amendments, SOWs, order forms, and other contracts using established templates and playbooks
  • Leading legal support for distribution, reseller, partner, market-entry, and go-to-market initiatives, advising on contract structure, risk, approval processes, and company policies
  • Applying sound business and legal judgment to identify, address, and escalate issues across commercial, technology, SaaS/licensing, privacy, information security, procurement, sales, and related matters
  • Serving as a trusted advisor to cross-functional business partners, including Procurement, Tax, Treasury, Accounting, Compliance, Marketing, Commerce, and distribution teams, by understanding business strategy and navigating competing priorities
  • Improving contract velocity, consistency, and efficiency by developing, refining, and providing feedback on templates, clauses, playbooks, and legal processes in collaboration with senior attorneys and legal operations
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and membership in good standing in at least one state bar

At GoDaddy, we subscribe to a “pay for performance” approach that considers our total compensation to ensure we offer competitive pay. Total compensation elements vary based on role, but in addition to our base pay offering, may include: 

  • Comprehensive benefits (may vary based on location)
  • Short-Term Incentives (annual bonus, sales incentive pay) - eligibility dependent on role and company and/or individual performance
  • Long-Term Incentives (equity) - eligibility dependent on role 

We are proud to provide pay transparency to our candidates. In the United States, we have four geographic pay groups (Groups). GoDaddy's target compensation is determined based on your location and varies based on an individual's qualifications, skills and experience at the time of the offer. For this role, our targeted base pay ranges for new hires in each US Group are: 

  • All other US locations not listed below: $106,500.00 – $159,500.00
  • Austin, D.C. Metro, CA (non-Bay Area), HI, IL, MA, NH, OR, VA, WA: $119,000.00 – $179,000.00
  • New York City Metro, Kirkland/Seattle: $126,800.00 – $190,200.00
  • Bay Area (San Francisco, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, Palo Alto):  $138,500.00 – $207,500.00
